MS-IL Staffing is searching for an experienced Senior Accountant for our Indianapolis, IN location to start immediately! This is a Direct-Hire opportunity with our internal team.

Purpose of Job: Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant, utilizing hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, performs complex accounting activities and financial analyses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Senior Accountant

  • Process, verify and maintain documentation relating to accounting activities;
  • Ability to remain confidential on private employee/employer information;
  • Ability to make independent decisions concerning payroll/accounting information and ensure the information is accurate;
  • Daily cash reporting;
  • Semi-weekly tax deposits auditing;
  • Weekly AR Deposit auditing;
  • Monthly state and local tax reporting;
  • Monthly financial reporting;
  • Accounts Payable manager;
  • Commission calculations;
  • Quarterly WC Self-Audit;
  • Quarterly unemployment tax reporting;
  • Year-end review/audit with KSM;
  • Year-end tax payments (provided by KSM);
  • Review management payroll prior to processing;
  • Annual tax reconciliation;
  • Ability to input data entry into appropriate systems;
  • Follow human resource policies as it pertains to employment processes;
  • Maintain all applicable report, paperwork and files;
  • Perform at all times in a professional manner and handle conflict with good judgment;
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities;
  • Follow Company chain of command;
  • Perform other duties as instructed or assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities: Senior Accountant

  • Comply with all policies, practices and procedures;
  • Participate in pro-active team efforts to achieve MS-IL Staffing goals;
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skill;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to key at a minimum of 50 per words per minute;
  • Ability to speak effectively to clients, management, co workers and employees;
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form;
  • Advanced personal computer skills are necessary, to include Excel, electronic mail, and word processing;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications: Senior Accountant

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting preferred;
  • 3+ years experience in accounting/payroll;
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices;
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations;
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel;
  • Clean background check.
