Purpose of Job: Accounts Payable / Payroll Specialist

The Accounts Payable / Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accuracy of payment of invoices and assists in the payroll process. Will be recording the Company’s payroll, providing timely and accurate financial information, and participating in daily data entry Payroll processing. Must enter, verify, and review invoices in QuickBooks.

Job Responsibilities: Accounts Payable / Payroll Specialist

  • Process, verify, and maintain documentation related to payroll activities;
  • Payment of all bills within the time frame allotted;
  • Perform daily payroll department operations;
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely;
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports;
  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance;
  • Execute the time clocks time and attendance processing and interface with payroll;
  • Develop financial and operation reporting as needed;
  • Process retros;
  • Research and email appropriate audience payroll or invoicing issues;
  • Ability to remain confidential on private employee/employer information;
  • Ability to make independent decisions concerning payroll information and ensure the information is accurate;
  • Ability to input data entry in appropriate systems;
  • Follow Human Resource policies as it pertains to employment processes;
  • Maintain all applicable report, paperwork, and files;
  • Perform at all times, in a professional manner, and handle conflict with good judgement;
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities;
  • Follow Company chain of command;
  • Perform other duties as instructed or assigned.

  • Comply with all policies, practices, and procedures;
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve Company goals;
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skill;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to accurately key at a minimum of 50 words per minute;
  • Ability to speak effectively to clients, management, coworkers, and employees;
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure;
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form;
  • Advanced personal computer skills are necessary to include: Word, Excel, and electronic mail;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications: Accounts Payable / Payroll Specialist

  • High School Diploma/GED required;
  • College degree strongly preferred;
  • 2+ years’ experience in Accounting/Payroll;
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices;
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel;
  • Clean background check.
