Description:

The Load Planner is a key member of the Client Solutions Team at the Inbound Service Center. This individual will support the operation by planning and optimizing outbound truckload shipments for on-time delivery to client locations. This position demands a high level of customer service and will serve as the main point of contact between clients, suppliers, carriers, and warehouse operations. This individual must have strong analytical skills and must be proficient with computer systems and applications. This individual must be a team player who is customer-focused and has the required skills and experience to be successful in the role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

o Monitor inbound flow of materials processed through cross dock operation at the inbound service center

o Plan and schedule weekly/daily outbound shipments, assuring on-time delivery of materials while utilizing the most cost effective mode of transportation; truckload, intermodal, LTL, or expedite

o Prioritize each outbound shipment for on-time delivery of each order to the client location, as well as any hot expedite requests

o Optimize transportation costs by consolidating orders into shipments using the lowest cost / best service option

o Communicate with planners at client locations to coordinate daily shipment activity and expedite requests, providing the timely and accurate information

o Track progress of inbound and outbound shipments keeping clients updated on status of shipments

o Utilize analytical and problem solving skills to determine the best possible solution for each situation

o Utilize multiple computer systems to manage inbound/outbound data; SAP, TMC, and AS0400, and Microsoft Excel

o Organize and distribute daily outbound load reports

o Position requires extensive work in AS0400 & Navisphere creating loads, and setting up shipments (TMC load ID’s).

o Reporting of daily, weekly, and monthly key performance metrics

o Identify opportunities for process improvements, participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions

o Identify and execute opportunities for cost savings / cost avoidance

o Responsive and proactive communication both internally and externally with clients via phone and email

o Various other special projects and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

o Associate or Bachelor degree and/or 2 years of relevant experience in supply chain / logistics

o Relevant customer service experience in transportation, warehousing, or logistics field is preferred

o Flexibility and ability to adapt to client needs

o Ability to prioritize client phone calls/emails and respond with a strong sense of urgency

o Must be a self-starter and highly motivated individual

o AS0400 experience preferred

o SAP experience preferred is a plus

o Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

o Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel is required. Experience with other applications including transportation management systems and ERP/MRP planning systems is preferred.

Work Environment:

The Load Planner will spend time working in an office environment, and will spend time working on the warehouse floor.
